Join our live parent webinar to understand the difference between typical multilingual development and possible speech-language concerns before the school year starts. Led by a multilingualism consultant and a bilingual speech-language pathologist, this session will help you move beyond myths, reduce guilt, and make informed decisions about your child’s languages, wellbeing, and support needs.

Is it bilingualism, or something else?

Many multilingual families enter the school year carrying the same worry: their child is growing up with more than one language, and adults around them may not always know how to interpret their language development.

Sometimes parents are told to “wait and see.” Other times, they are advised to stop using a home language. Both responses can leave families feeling confused, guilty, or unsure about the next step.

Why this webinar matters

Bilingualism does not cause speech-language disorders, but multilingual children can still have speech-language needs. The challenge is knowing how to understand the full picture without blaming the languages too quickly.

Together with Sarah Shellard, MS, CCC-SLP, we created this webinar to help families feel more informed, less guilty, and better prepared before the new school year starts.

What we’ll cover

During the session, we’ll explore:

🔹 what bilingual / multilingual development really means

🔹 why dropping a home language is not automatically the solution
🔹 what families can do before school starts to support communication, wellbeing, and confidence
